Hello everyone! I have just bought a 2003 Freelander TD4 as I have always wanted one but have been put off up until now by the poor name it has in reliability. Whilst researching the Freelander, I was lucky enough to find this site and having read the forums I decided that I would just get one and to hell with the reliability woes as they can't all be bad, the one I got has done 110k miles and I know for sure it didn't do that mileage on a garage lift! That said there is an idling issue in that it is a little lumpy and it feels like the idle speed is set too low, also the exhaust, whilst not smokey, smells dreadful! I have also found that the vacuum reservoir in the right of the engine bay isn't connected to anything so not sure if that is related?
I hope that my Freelander is a good one and I also hope that I can get help and advice from you guys as some of you seem to be real speciallists!
I'm guessing that initially I will be asking many more questions than I will be able to answer but my main question is.....Are they really that bad?
Best regards to all
