Hi all new to this forum but hope you can help. I have a 02 plate 5 door TD4 manual with 95k on the clock. Had it for a year and done 30k no problems. A few weeks ago it deleoped a starting problem where you would turn the key and it wouldnt fire just a loud click coming from the
passenger side engine bay. Wiggle the key a few times and it would fire no problem. Took it to main dealer (as still under warranty at that time) and they could find no fault. More recently another problem where the starter motor would turn but it wouldnt fire. Read on another LR forum
about gently tapping fuel pump in engine bay and this seemed to work. So I now know to listen for fuel pump hum as when I hear this I am thinking that at least fuel is being pumped!
This morning I was back to the Click and no fire until I wiggled the key a few times. I have to go back to the main dealer as I m not happy with some tyres they fitted so I want to go to go back fully armed to complain about them not fixing the fault that they couldn't dagnose! To my
way of thinking it could be immoboliser/starter/fuel pump or all three. I am by no means a mechanical expert and just looking for any helpful suggestions!
