my wife was driving down the freeway and noticed the temp gauge suddenly rising, she pulled over, opend the bonnet and the whole engine was coverd in oil. towed the car home and I've found the source of all the oil is from a split radiator hose. other than HGF what can cause oil/water mixing on a TD4, how do I find out what has happend and if it is HGF.
Thanks Dylan

It will a split oil cooler hose not a rad hose, to a none mechanically minded guy they probably look the same. and the oil cooler hose is low down in the engine bay.

Replace the hose, add more oil then steam clean the engine and bay.

there's three hoses related to the turbo, any one can split and spray oil. When one goes, the other two won't be far behind so best change all 3. Not expensive to do, if one is a little awkward. (see pictures i've posted in gallery)

oil is in the expantion tank, sump is empty, oil over engine is creamy. only had a very quick look, but hose is about an inch and a half thick so thats why I said radiator hose. is it common for the oil coolers to go?
