hi just got my first freelander its a td4 diesel 2001 3 door and i really like it but i am experiencing intermitant starting problems when warm so after surfing the forum ive come to the conclusion that its the camshaft sensor could anyone tell me the best place to get one the part no is 2 249 320f or does anyone have a spare they are willing to sell?
thanks paul

Done a leak back test? I'd say one or more injectors is/are up the swanny.

If you still think it's the camshaft sensor, take if off when well warmed up (one bolt), stick it in the freezer for 10 mins, put it back on the vehicle and see if it starts. If it does then it could well be the sensor. New ones can be bought from Euro parts I think.

Been down this route and my money's on injectors tbh.

havnt done a leakback test i was trying (in my opinion) the easy options first as i think it hasnt been well serviced or looked after over the last few years although it hasnt done many miles over that time (2001 with 113k) and i hoped to avoid the injectors for the present but thanks for your info Creeeg i will try the freezer trick first!
cheers paul

I had an injector fail at about that mileage.

Worth trying the freezer test on the camshaft sensor. Don't buy one first as they're best part of £100 iirc!

Just sorted my td4 out, was a bastard to start, would fire initially then would not start. Occasionally it would start and then ran perfect. Diagnostics showed up manic cam sensor readings, 2nd hand sensor for £15 runs a treat. Same sensor as lots of bmw and rover 75s

well done I had that problem stuck on a beech with the tide coming in fast but luck was on my side when my friend wondered where I was he came and pulled me of the beech in his defender .now I always carry a spare and the tool to do the job.
