I have been reading this forum for a while but this is the first time I have needed to start a new thread

I have a Freelander TD4 it initially started to squeek and then started to lock itself to the floor of the cab so I had to pull it up with my hand as it was not possible with my foot.

I have replaced the master cylinder and it went away for a few days but it has since returned. It does not happen all the time just enough to make it difficult to trust it to drive anywhere beyond the local shops!!

Any ideas as to what might solve this - trying to avoid replacing the slave as its a big a job that I would have to get a garage to attack I think

Are you refering to the pedal mechanism itself? is this a potential point of failure rather than the master & slave Cylinders.

To close this query out -

Got the system pressure bleed but it was not successful - looked to work initially but within an hour or 2 of drivng was clear the issue was unresolved.

Had to get the slave replaced - in doing this while the gearbox was out also did the clutch and flywheel as they were not in great condition. This was a big and expensive job both with parts and labour. Car driving well again but have to get use to the new clutch as the pedal engages much lower to the floor.
