This last week I've noticed that my freebie has given a puff of dense smoke on start-up, but then clears and is absolutely fine for the rest of the drive, including on rapid acceleration and gear changes. It ticks over fine and there are no additional noises or anything. But leave for a while and it'll do it again...

Any ideas what I need to look at? The spec is in my signature and I'm running my synergy in Eco mode.

Standard for diesel on first start up from cold. Just nature of the beasts.
Nothing to worry about

Mine does the same, although slightly less smoke since I cleans the fuel rail pressure sensor plug.

Plenty of info about that on here…

you will find it does it more in winter I would have said heater plugs but not in this hot weather unless you are some where cold ,keep your eye on your oil if it starts to go down then suspect the valve oil seals but as said nothing really to worry about

Thanks for all your help and advice guys. It's just that up until this last week it's been a very clean vehicle to run with no smoke, smells or anything. I'd just have liked to keep it that way...
