hi all been ages since i've been on im afraid. Looking at fitting a kenlowe fan to my 1989 TD wondering the pros and cons. Hoping for better mpg and no water splashing when wading!

any help is much appreciated. Thankyou.

is it worth me doing hoping to get increase mpg and better ess water aplash when wading! please help!

just take the standard one off and forget about fitting the leccy one - especially this weather

put the money saved into your "200Tdi upgrade fund" piggy bank

A 2.5 TD won't run for very long without a viscous fan running. Took 10 minutes after my fan belt snapped for it to overheat and blow all the water out of the rad bottle.

I never had any problems wading with a viscous fan running on the 2.5TD or the Disco 200Tdi.

there must have been another issue going on with yours Pat, i know dozens that have been running without the fan for years without a problem

Hi Yoshi,

Fitted a Kenlowe to my 2.5TD about 18 mths ago. I also fitted an Allard intercooler and lagged the exhaust manifold and down pipe. I was hoping to get better mpg from every mod but apart from about a 10% increase (about 2.5 mpg) what I got was more power, power, power... Now pulls like a train, no need to drop out of top gear on hills and will even pull smoothly in top in town at 30 mph. I reckon you get more mpg only from dropping weight so dump the roof rack, steering guard, hi-lift etc Also don't forget if you put a temperature sensor in the top hose to fire up the fan it could still kick in when you're in water unless you fit an isolator switch on the dash.
Happy wading!

Oh, i also wouldn't recommend driving with no fan.

I don't have one on mine currently, 'cos i havn't had time to fit it.

95% of the time you are fine, but i was tow starting a dead van the other day, and nearly boiled my LR, even with the interior heater on - lots of load at a low road speed.

Ill b fitting the fan :)
