When I tried to start my TD4 it turns over and will start after a minute or so, the fuel pump under the fuse box in the engine bay is very noisyand glugs, The in tank fuel pumpmakes the same sort of gluging!! Once the engine has started it seems to run normal, with no loss of power, I took it to a independence Land Rover dealer who checked it over with his computer and told me both fuel pump are f**k*d. I'm going to replace the one in the tank tomorrow. But I was wondering if anybody had come across this problem before. Thanks.

Since both fuel pumps are playing up it may well be that the pick up inle inthe fuel tank is partially blocked. It would be worth having a look as it might not be necessary tobuy a new pump.
Also, how long since the fuel filter has been changed?

I changed the Oil filter last week to see if it made any difference, I fitted a new rear fuel pump today and it was easier to start, as the fuel pump in the engine bay is so noisy I think I will change that as well. I think it's a good point you made about the rear pump getting blocked as the filter around it did look slightly waxy when it was removed. The engine management light has been on for the last week on the dash, is there an easy cheap way to reset. Thanks for your time.
