repair kits to replace broken cable are supposed to be dog easy once you've got regulator out. some folks on here have quite successfully repaired theirs with a bike brake cable, but involves filing/melting nipple on the end. ebay repair kits for about £15 are the simpler no messing about option.

depends which bit has broken really. if it's the cable, easy enough. if it's the regulator itself or the motor, different kettle of fish

Hi

I also need to replace a broken cable on my 52 td4 5 door, but i cant find these repair kits on ebay or anywhere , could anyone help me to locate one of these .

cheers and thanks

At begining of last december some nice person posted a set of pictures showing how to repair the window mechanism. Search and you might find them. You don't need the kit just a cycle inner cable (I think its the brake cable ),and the means to solder or attach a nipple on the other end.

Inner cycle cable cost me £1.99. I drilled and soldered the origonal nipple on the other end.
Nice one - would I be right in assuming just normal solder? As it the type used for plumbing? Is this strong enough?
It's only a matter of time before it happens to mine so would be keen to hear how it's done like this.
