Can anyone help ? I been having loads of probs with my wife's Freeloader again. Firstly the Tailgate window didn't work - wouldn't drop down the inch or so, neither would the heated rear window, wash/wipe work but the door latch would (door would open a fraction but window not drop). When the window down button was pressed just got a continous beep until released. trying to open via the key/latch or fob equally didn't work. Now all of a sudden the window works fine as does the wiper, HRW etc but the door latch is completely dead. Previously to the latch not working, when I opened the drivers door there where a series of short beeps now these have stopped.

Secondly, the holy trinity of warning lights have come on -ABS, HDC and TC. I looked under the gear gater and found 2 wires broken from the HDC switch. presuming ,because it's just a switch(?) i soldered the connections back on in no particular order - is this ok ? Now i'm off to the main stealer to buy a new brake switch (doing the cheap and easy stuff myself -reading thru the various forums) Can I reset the system myself or is it back to the main stealer.

Thirdly, was the person who designed the electical system on the freeloader on acid ? or just a total B'stard.

Many Thanks

the beeps when you open the drivers door it the alarm telling you there is a problem, ie battery fob. as for the rest, there must be a loose/bad connection somewhere. best find each end of the loom in the car and tailgate and check.

try disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminal. ive had a few electric problems and this has sorted a lot of them

Any idea how to get the door open with a dead latch/handle ?
To get in with a flat keyfob you need the access code from the dealer it should be free if you can prove you own it.

You used the words designed and freelander in the same sentence. you need to stop that nonsense right now!

Sorry, dead latch handle. I had one but the missus kindly smashed it off by reversing into nextdoors wheelie bin Don't suggest this as a course of action , how do you mean 'Dead' ? If you look underneath the latch the operating flap actually contacts a switch, if the return spring is gone then the flap can be flicked back with your finger and then may operate again.

Thanks for the responses.
By dead , I mean there seems to be no power going to it. Normally when you pull the handle, you hear a motor/solenoid and the door opens, window drops and you can swing the door open.
At the moment, when the handle in pulled there's nothing. I've tried disconnecting the battery a couple of times but still nothing.

You're right, I did say designed. I should have said thrown together. Sorry won't do it again !

Cheers
