P38A Tailgate(s) where do they rust?

As title really. Mine are mint and I want to keep them like that if I can.
Where does that rust start so I can inject some wax oily stuff?

Erm. Inside where you can't get?

normally along the bottom edge of the lower one the alloy corrodes.

and bottom edge of the top

Bottom just above the bumper. The bumper tends to rust at the top and bulge upwards where it starts rubbing on the bottom of the lower tailgate and then it all falls apart.

For the bottom one, I pour a little used engine oil in. Messy for a short time but has proved very effective at stopping the alloy corroding.

Is there any know way to repair a corroded tail gate. I know its an ally skin on a steel frame but wondered if there was a solution.

To remove the outer skin and treat/repair the frame.

Let me know if you sort it because I need to stop.mine getting worse. I was just going to sand down and use touch-up paint for now.

Except on my scrapper, it's not the frame but the alloy that has corroded away

Too tight to use new engine oil? Or is it easier to collect from underneath?

Drip tray underneath every night and soon have enough

Old diesel engine oil is best.
