Tailgate regulator wire broken

The tailgate window will not go down. I think the regulator wire is broken. How do I take out the regulator unit when the glass is stuck in the top position?

Mine did this

remove trim piece from top of tailgate (banana clips)

You should be able to carefully open tailgate.

remove talgate interior panel

confirm that wire has broken

If it has, cut the other wire and the glass should then be able to move freely

Don't cut the other wire. Doing that just means you've got another cable to replace. Undo the 2 clamps that hold the glass and remove it upwards. Undo the fasteners holding the regulator unit in the door and remove. Dismantle the motor head and replace the cable. There's a lot of posts on the forum about doing this. For my repair I used a cycle brake cable.

Sorry - suggested cutting other wire as I was assuming you were going to replace regulator as a whole not attempt repair !!
