Tailgate Problem

A few days ago my tailgate couldn't be opened so I was putting stuff in and out of the boot via the window. Then today I wasa going round a roundabout it sprung into life and opened, distributing the contents of my boot across the road. I collected my stuff shut threw it in the back seats and drove away. Then it opened again further down the road.

I doesn't happen if I use the lock central locking switch and lock it and it is otherwise operating as normal.

Any ideas?

Now nothing is working again, even the wipers this time! Must be the bloody snow and water on the multiplug!

The wires in the loom can break or short out where it moves when you open and shut the tailgate. A few people have posted threads about it causing various lights, wipers etc to not work.
