Hi All,

Acquired a 1998 XEDI the other day as a project, it has many problems but the main gripe at the moment is the Tailgate will not open, the window works from the center console and the wipers work (nothing from the key in the rear handle).

I have the carpet out as the heater Matrix is leaking (needed to wash the carpet and allow it to dry of course).

Anyway, I was just inside the vehicle trying the CCU Self Test procedure found here (doesnt work) and found this plug just sitting next to the gear stick - its the same colour cables as used in the Tailgate switch (I know because I took the handle apart, fixed the broken wires and put the micro switch back where it is supposed to be).

The question is: What is this Plug and where is it from?

I will introduce myself properly soon, just wanted to get this post in before I go on a quick camping trip (In the trusty Bmw..lol).

That will be the reason my Amber HDC light is constantly on then - the cables going to the HDC switch from the loom are Green and Purple though ?

Tailgate Fixed.

I went through the whole thing, tracing cables (testing continuity) - testing relays.. it was a nightmare.
Took out the window regulator and wiper motor - checked everything (isn't that lock actuator a simple device? merely a Scalextric motor and a simple gearing system).

In the end the problem was with the micro switch in the handle - even though I could hear the switch its self clicking it wasn't actually closing the circuit ! now everything works like a dream and as I have cleaned up/lubricated etc everything I am confident in that part of the car now.

Oh, I also installed a 'Manual Release' system in the Tailgate - just hook a Cable Tie around the unlocking bar and attach a piece of para cord to it and have it so it dangles out of the bottom of the gate just enough so you can tuck out of the way :)

Love it.
