hi please help iv fitted a new back door lock to my disco 1 the spring was gone in the locking unit so I replaced it.now it won't open as it should.it worked a couple a times.then I have to put my finger in to release or push the bar at the top of the long spring to get it to open.ANY IDEAS anybody iv bin at it 10 hours already and me heart is broke

I recently had to do mine, and it was a right pain.

Could you take some pictures and upload them - i'll compare them to mine to see what is off

That's an interesting one.

From what I can tell all of the rods are in the correct place - obviously excluding the one for the door lock pin that pokes up through the inside.

The only part I can't see in the video, is where the rod connects to the door lock - pictured below: - Is the upper rod on the right side? (I'm missing the lower rod in this picture).



Other than that, possibly you have gotten unlucky and the new one is faulty?

Also if you lift the bar up (where the pin would come through the interior) does it help at all? Possibly it slightly "knocks" into a locked position.

I'll try that tamarra foz and let ya know.im also thinking the same thing about the strike bar as it has marks the door is sagging slightly.also maybe screwing ofthe rod connecting the lock barrel might be off.thanks again man iv bin fing around the whole weekend with this pretty much.i fixed the right side driver door and it was perfect.
The upper rod is on the right side yes
 
Thanks again buddy.i let a yahoo off when I got it in the end.now I have no air coming from the blower and a wet floor in da front foot wells.cant wait to get into that problem!
