Tailgate lock and rear windscreen problems problems

The rear glass on our 53 plate td4 will lower when you use the button on the centre console but will not rise again .Coupled to this the tailgate will not latch closed .If I unplug the rear lock and operate the door handle the glass drops the usual way for opening as long as you apply pressure to the handle but if you release the handle glass rises again .still with the lock UNPLUGGED the tailgate window rises and falls as it should from the centre console .Plug the lock in again and the original problem starts again .
I have tryed disconecting the battery and resetting things this makes no difference .
What I was wondering is this enough evidence to assume the tailgate lock is at fault or is there another possability ?

When you say you have 'tried disconnecting the battery and resetting things' do you mean you have re-calibrated the tailgate window in accordance with the instructions in the owner's handbook?

You need to go through the process absolutely to the letter or it will not work correctly.

I do not understand what you mean by 'unplug the rear lock'.

If I unplug the wiring to the tailgate lock ( not the central locking unit )

When you say the tailgate will not latch, what do you mean? The tailgate has to be "sensed" closed for the tailgate window to operate. Hence you shut the tailgate before it will allow the window to rise, as a fully up window won't allow the tailgate to close afterwards.

Have you got a door open warning on the dash when you have the plug connected and the tail door shut?

Is it 3 or 5 door?
