Sympathetic mods to a D2 to make it more dual-purpose?

Hi first post, so please bear with me,

I'm merging two vehicles into one: my 250bhp, mile munching & luxury Subaru Legacy and my 110 300tdi that I use at my woods and for towing stuff like my quad or our caravan now and again.

I've decided to replace both with with a late ('04?) D2, the 4.0 V8 after someone else has paid for the LPG conversion. I've had one briefly before, I know it's a capable vehicle and if I get an ES it'll have all the toys and it'll be super comfortable to drive.

So, what do I do to the D2 to make it the dual-purpose vehicle I'm looking for? Something I can hoon down the motorway now and again but also that I can use to pull a few tonnes of firewood over a wet muddy track. Something I can chuck ropes & chainsaws into the back of without getting my leather all ripped to pieces and will still look OK if I have to collect a client form the train station (that last one is made up but hopefully you get my point :)).

My list of obvious changes is:
  • Decent bumper winch that can be used to pull vehicle/a tree, ideally low profile
  • 2nd set of wheels with all-terrains on, I don't want to have to change wheels every 5 mins and muds will be too severe for a long jaunt
  • Decent roof rack/ladder (so I can get my Canadian canoe on top)
  • Some sort of boot liner for aforementioned chainsaws etc

I know there's there a bunch of more mechanical mods (lifting/sliders etc) but I'm not convinced I need them. Do I? I do go off-road, but it's mostly just at my woods and this is across a track that does get quite boggy as it semi wetland, hence the winch. I certainly can't see the justification for a snorkel, can an improved breather be installed that you can't see?

So, given I want a luxury vehicle that I can continue use as a useful tool, what have I missed? I feel sure that there has to be some neat mods out there to help me that I can't think of right now.

Thanks.

I'd suggest a Range Rover TBF.

Althou a Discovery 2 can do all of the above the full air suspension on the Range Rover will make it more of a motorway cruiser and at the flick of a switch play in the mud/ruts.

With that I would go with discrete winch mount kit which you can do to the Discovery or Range Rover. Any gutter mount roof rack should fit again I wouldn't have it on if you have a planned motorway trip.

I've got a Canadian canoe and a roof ladder would make things harder.

Just hold the canoe upside down above your head approach the disco diagonally on from the rear, get front of canoe on the roof, push it the rest of the way. Simples.
