Stub axels might be worth checking, along with hubs and bearings, brakes, callipers and of course use new gaskets when refitting

I dunno about cv joints, have to get some more advice :)

i was thinking about the stub axel and drive shaft splines,, is wear easilly spotted and which is liable to have the most wear.. the splines on the shaft or the socket or both as much as each other.

just done mine
and as well as the swivel ball kit and swivel balls I got
new bolts FRC3456 that fit the swivel ball to the axel as they were a t**t to get off
Retaining plate goes over the outer seal FRC4142, as it was not in the kit.
Also check frc8700 stub nut x4 had to replace as they had been taken on and off by rabid dog!
also locker washers x2
wheel bearings& seals check them while its stripped

codes are a guide, and im not 100% just a guide having just done mine
others will advise

Oh and spray the retaining plate before you fit it as its only been 1 week and its covered in surface rust (

Buy genuine lock washers from your local landy main dealer, the difference between genuine and pattern isnt even funny, really. In fact id price up things like seals etc while I was there, you might spend an extra 30p on the washers and you might be surprised how little the other bits cost from a main dealer.
Also you might need shims for the swivel pin.

thanks for the heads up guys,
i was replacing the off side wheel bearing so have a kit for that and will check the kit has the other bits you listed and order them up if not there. i have some fishing scales on standby from a mate also.
only thing im devided on is weather to use the one shot grease or the normal oil. it does come with grease but as mine is a 95 tdi did origionally have ep 90 in it.. must admit with it leaking badly has made a hell of a mess so maybe grease would be good, even if it had a slight weap it would stay clean i guess

Sorry to hijack the thread. But I assume genuine LR Teflon swivels are ok. It's just the britpart owned that suffer as I believe the chrome ones are no longer available

i have the britpart kit, which i purchased some time ago.. way before i read a few threads on how crap they can be , but ill have to go with these for now and see how they go.. if it fails ill have to source some pukka L/R ones i guess
Time will tell
