Hi,
I am just wondering if anyone has installed a bank of switches into the dash of your defender? I have a 200tdi and was thinking that a few set of 3 would look nice and not so cluttered as a big centre console? Also my young son in the front seat would have some buttons to press on his side.

Has anyone added switches straight into the lower dash? Would you recommend it?

Many thanks,
Gray

It's the 'tube' that carries the air to the windscreen and footwells.
Possibly damp air?
Not good for connections and switches imho.
The two furthermost ends are separate though, wiper motor and hazard switch areas.

Or stick one of these in and both of you can reach?

Thanks for your ideas, the carling are waterproof i thought and to be honest I did not think about the air behind them!

But the more i research the more I like the dash units you have shown above.

It's a mud stuff one.
Other, more expensive ones I think, are available. I think I got the Carling switches off them as well.
I'm pleased with it but I've no idea if other types are better.

This is the switch layout I fitted to my 90 some 15-years ago. Nice & simple, radio in the OE housing

This the current set-up, same vehicle but just a few changes.
Is less more?

Thanks everyone. The more I think about it the more I lean towards a centre unit. I will still be able to make it unique and very cool. Now to decide what switches to install!!

I was looking at the Mud one, that looks good.

Litch I have the same radio in as yours did, the centre below still has the clock, lighter and twist rear wiper/washer.

Console is by Raptor, a search will confirm they are very well made and extremely popular. :)

Available in a wide range of configurations & colours.
