my mrs series 3 has the rubbish perkins or whatever it is in the engine bay. Its a right swine to start though... After prolonged cranking it will give a cough and splutter.... Then nothing..
then after another 10 seconds finally burst into life.... Lift pump? Dodgy fuel line?

Are they wired in series or parallel?

If they are in series and one fails, the whole lot fail!

Do you have a multimeter so that you can check if they are working?

If not can you rig up a test lamp to check the circuit?

If it is a Perkins 4.203 then you'll have the thermostart flame thrower in the intake.
It works well when it works. You should have a feed coming from the return on your injectors into a pot which with enough cranking fills and feeds the thermostart. Which should be red hot from pre-heating. If you need any pics let me know.
