Hello,

2 things to mention here.

The first is the ongoing problem with my p38 2.5 tdi suspension.
It seems to have a life of its own recently.
one minute it will be ok them the next it changes height to full height position, other times it drops at the rear and then again it take a long time to reach normal height after parking up.
I did not use the car for 1 week while it was parked up in the high suspension mode as i had a battery problem.
The suspension did not go down, but once i replaced the battery and drove the car for around 9 miles then another jurney of about two miles on returning to the car i noticed the rear suspension had dropped to the stops.

The strange thing is i had a battery (The second of which only lasted 10 months from new) failure problem and the car would not start so i called the AA. The nice man done a battery check twice and told me that it needed replacing then checked to see if anything was draining the battery and the result was negative. The alternater is sending suffiecient power to the battery.

Question 1. whats going on with my suspension?

Question 2. why have two new batteries only lasted ten months?

Thank you for any help that you can give.

Mike.

Apart from internal faults in the battery, usually only two things goose a battery like that - either leaving it totally discharged for any length of time or extreme over-charging with a boost charger or the alternator putting out too much voltage. Have you measured the battery voltage with the engine running at around 2500-3000 revs?

I agree with Derek about the battery. It's also possible that if your alternator is playing up it's affecting the ECU's.
As for the suspension, get the faults read. It's possible that the driver pack is going down, in which case there will be no faults to read apart from the "vehicle has moved" one which is meaningless.

Conserning your EAS Suspension behavior... check the Diaphragm in your valve block. This is probably cracked and that is the reason why air from the spare-tank goes into valve block / airsprings when you do not want it...

Bye,
G
