Suspension stuck high..

Interesting comments.

I did deflate the system by accident when trying to reset with faultmate. Thought I was going to be stuck on the bumpstops! It re-inflated when I cleared the fault log.

What are the recomended settings for normal height so that i can double check that it is now OK!

Also what do you do to "cheat" the uper tail gate...

I wasn't actually overloaded - I had 625kg aboard where as the data suggests that max gross weight at rear axel allows for upto 680kg assuming driver only and full fuel tank - I had driver only and < 1/4 tank of fuel.

In the case of overloading what is normally the weak point and lilely to fail...

Cheers,
Steve
There's no recommanded settings for any height because each sensor has it's own sensitivity. When i use a MARS (bypass inflation) kit, i inflate the airspring until there's a 10cm gap between top of the tyre and bottom of the arch.

To cheat the upper tailgate, you need to lure the lower tailgate lock receiver with a screwdriver. It's a moving clutch you need to make it turn. Then do not slam the upper tailgate until you open the virtually present uppertailgate with the push button of the lower tailgate.

Works well for my IKEA trips:D. I had to find a solution since i run oversized tyres because if lowest setting is blocked, i almost can't drive it.

Steve as i said and Data it maybe just a case of sensor going into unknown territory and ECU saying sod that. If you do it again half way through unload just shut the tailgate with engine running and let it settle before continuing. Best thing i can think of at moment. By the way the total carrying capacity is with load evenly distributed not all of it in boot.
I'd say did it go at fault while carrying ? No, so it's not due to the load

Did it go at fault while unloading ? Yes, so it's a problem of out of range sensor due to the over inflation that have been caused by the load

Yes i am aware of that, as you would see from my earlier posts if you have read them. The fault is not due to the load as you quite correctly say. The fault is due to the unload so to speak. But all of that was covered earlier.

You're right but sometimes things need to be said twice but differently:cool:

Exactly. Did i not say that? :D:D:D

nah you said

You don't have to input anything. Just do a reset. When you loaded car air was added to maintain height setting. When you unloaded it air springs expanded under pressure. ECU should have corrected it from high sensor readings. It may just be a glitch because sensors have gone to where they have not been before and ECU has said bollocks to that and shut down. Reset and see what you get. Moral is, don't overload arse end.

looks like not enough beer is having a toll on the memory:D:D

Think it was a reasonable faximly there of. What is beer?:D:D:D

Beer used to be the stuff we drank but now its only for the rich people the memory is a bit distant led to believe it is only expensive because of tax - bit like petrol really:confused::confused:

Oh yes i remember it now 1/10 a pint for bitter and 1/3 for mild. And ESSO golden 5 star petrol 3/9 a gallon. Times seem to have changed a little.:mad::mad:

Yep, always used Esso Golden for the race bikes:D:D:D

Just think Keith how a modern motor would go on that stuff. They have had to fit multi valve heads, electronic injection and engine management to get any power from this unleaded crap. Think modern engines and five star juice would be excellent. Remove cat, advance it up, pour in Esso golden and woooooosh. ;););)

Hi Guys,

My P38 has done the exact same thing tonight after a trip to the cash and carry to get beer kegs.

I'll be getting myself the software and cable as soon as I can to reset it, but in the mean time, will continuing to drive it with the fault cause any damage to the car? Only reason I ask is I've got to pick the misses up from heathrow in 6 hours........

Cheers
