hi guys , fitted the new front shocks and ( take off ) springs ..

all seemed to come off and go bk together ok ..

My first question , is how tight do I need to do the bolts on the top and bottom of the shock , I cant get a torque wrench on the bottom , and as for the top I went pretty tight till things started to turn ..

My second question , is that the front to my eye doesn't seem to be sitting the same height on both sides , I will double check tomorrow on flatter ground ( there is a little camber on the road) , but it seems like she is a little low on the passenger side ..
when I bought the springs I was carful to get the correct colours and match them with all the charts , for my defender It states yellow / yellow on both sides on the front .. both springs while standing in the garage looked the same height .. any thoughts would be great .. will add a few photos ..

Oh my defender is a 110 , 98 , td5 , station wagon ..

As long as you didn't tighten nuts and bolts until after you got the beast back on the ground and bounced it up and down a bit, (some would say this is optional but I would ways do it to settle the springs and bushes) and you then tightened them up to torque where you can and tight as you can with a normal ring spanner, where you can't, then you should be OK. (Phew sorry for the long sentence, feel like Victor Hugo!)
Take it for a spin, preferably over some rough ground and then see how it sits on flat tarmac. If it still looks wonky then maybe do the loosen-tighten thing again.:):):)

I couldn't find the torque setting for the tops , the bottoms no chance of getting on there ...

I tightened everything up while she was off the ground , I didnt touch anything once I got her off the stands ....

im just wondering if I have been miss sold the springs , I bought them a while ago now ...

I used this guide , it says that mine should be yellow yellow , but the LH version is showing different ... is thais correct ?

The LH and RH springs are slightly different as Kermit-RR mentioned, you have to take care to fit them the correct way, mine had different colour bands on them.
When new you may expect to see a slight difference with no one in the vehicle.

mine are listed for Yellow / yellow on both the front , and white green green both for the back ...

im sure there isnt yellow left and yellow right .. there is no indication of this ..

Cheers

yeah thats what I bought 8045 yellow / yellow ..

well least I know I bought the right springs , Will take her out for a ride and see how she sits after , if not , it must have been something I did ? cant see how they can be fitted wrong tbh ..

Just to update the thread ..

Fitted the new suspension, and went for a quick drive , then checked the heights and the difference seems negligible, so hopefully all is well ..

I have noticed that she is sitting higher more so in the rear , when compared the rear springs it was clear to see how much the original springs had sagged ..

Cheers all with your help

In the distant pedantic past, there used to be different springs for the left and right of Land Rovers, more recently they have fitted the same both sides.
I'm sure that this was brought on by cost saving rather than any sound engineering argument, in any case, it is clear that the different spring rates didn't make much difference.
I don't think I have ever seen a Land Rover that sat level anyway.
