Suspension advice needed

A mate of mine (who comes out playing regularly) has a problem with the suspension on his highly modded Disco.

The car has a 2" suspension lift all round, but the front end regularly crashes onto the bump stops (drivers side worst) when laning etc. The bump stops are poly, there's no give in them so its pretty harsh when it happens. The car has a hoooooge winch on the front (12000lbs i think) and I'm sure I read somewhere that it may be worth putting 3" lift springs on to compensate for the weight of the winch.

The other theory is the pro comp shocks that have been fitted are snafu and not catching the bumps.

Now for the questions: Is 3" springs on the front the way to go, or is that just bollix. If 3" lift is not the right way to go, would 2" heavy duty be better. Would better/new shocks help and if so can anyone reccomend whats better than pro comp, and finally would standard bump stops be better in this case than poly.

Loking forward to all the wonderful answers I'm about to get :D

Lots of aftermarket suppliers offer the choice of "WITH WINCH" or "WITHOUT WINCH" in their adverts for lift kits in 4x4 magazines ;)

Hope this helps ;)
