A mate of mine in chessington has one. gave him a quick call and persuaded he wanted to go out for a drive in it and problem solved

We did try a TD5 110 first, but was no chance of it getting mine out.

I wonder what made the ruts, tractor maybe? They look pretty deep.

Hi Guys,

I bought my dog an ex mod 90 nad for Christmas, and it turns out the silly bastard can't even drive. Anyway, so untill he learns I'm just gonna use it!

It also just so happens that I live in Surrey and don't have anything going on Saturday, and I wondered if I could crash your party

I do have to be honest and say I have never done any serious off roading, and as yet have no recovery gear, if fact I don't even have a jack.

On that point, can someone recomend a good jack, I have 265/75/16 tyres !

I think the plan is to PM Kris 300TDI if you want to go. Where abouts are you, I'm near Cranleigh?

hi-lift or jack-all, personally i have a jack-all (dave bowyer recommends them i think)
as fer recovery gear the minimum you need is a good recovery point front and rear, jate rings will do, then on top of that a good recovery strop/rope rated to a minimum of 5 tonnes( a gradient and being stuck in a bog can double the effective weight of the vehicle) it is better to have 2 recovery point front and rear as this will put less stress through the chassis when using a bridal strop.

my list of must haves for off roading are:
in no particular order
2 good recovery ropes/strops
4 shackles either bow or D type(i have a pair of D shackles thet fit a towball perfect)
spade(fold down army type are good)
torch (maglites are best but i have an emergency wind up torch too)
diff guards (if you crack a diff you won't get home)
trade size WD40
Duck/Duct/Gaffa/100mph/bodge/bondage tape minimum 1 roll
cable ties
instant metal paste(like chemical metal)
2 pairs of rigger gloves
sturdy boots (steel toecaps and midsoles if poss)
a flask of strong tea
a small bag of sugar
a couple of mars bars
a flint and steel
dry tinder
a well charged mobile phone
a pair of side cutters

My reasoning was that that the jack would need to be tall enough to lift the wheels of the ground, but I realise now that it my not have been totally necessary to mention it

Anyway, thanks for the usefull info and the shopping list, I'll stop by tesco first thing in the morning and see what I can find
