Yup it happened. Flat battery- keyfob not opening truck etc. etc.
Here is what I did:
Pulled bonnet cables through grille. Yes it can be done.
Released the two catches on either side of bonnet.
Bonnet up.
New battery (charge it/jump it etc.)
Wedge drivers door open at top with wooden wedges or what you have (Enough to get the key through).
Get 2x long rods (around 6 to 8 mm) dia which will reach the ignition where the key goes and the unlock button underneath the hazard switch on Centre of dash.
Drill one rod so the metal keyring will go through it. (The key needs to be able to jiggle)
Put the key ring through the hole with key attached.
Now you can feed it through the gap and with skill and patience (lots) and jiggling.
You get the key into the ignition.
Push it down, you will hear the unlock of the superlock motors.
Now feed rod 2 through the gap and push the central locking button.
I hope this helps.
A whole weekend spent discovering this method with advice.
I have wired a 50 Amp plug straight to the battery and bolted it to the grille so I can plug a second battery on if she goes flat again just to get in.
DO NOT use this to jump start, its not big enough. Starting Amps are in the region of 200-300 amps or more !!! You can use it to charge the battery though.
My poor missus thought I was going bonkers.
She is right of course but my truck lives again.
