Sunroof Clatter

The sunroof on my FL 1 works fine but on closing the mechanism “clatters’ if the button is held on close for a split second after it has fully closed , it doesn’t happen on opening , has anyone else got experience of this and may know the cause ?

It is the motor cog slipping on the cables.
Either the cables or pulley or both are worn allowing slippage.

The motor only stalls at close, there is no cut off switch! It is a very powerful motor and can easily force the cog round if there is wear.

Inspection of the cog and cables in the roof behind the interior light should reveal the problem.

Thanks for the replies was hoping there would be a cut off switch which I could replace but at least I know the score now .

it happens mostly when shutting the roof whilst driving and just reaching for the switch , due to other engine and road noise I tend to just hold the button until I know it’s closed as easy to leave it slightly open otherwise
