i love my landy but there always seemvys to be something wrong with it , i wish i could fix it but never seems tht way , anyone know about leaking sunroof on a 300tdi defender 90 thankssss

I have exactly the same problem with my 110- I have found a cheap, easy and trouble free method of fixing it.

I invite my elderly mother to sit in the seat that has been leaked on and then sypathetically sigh..... "Mother", and look kindly at her and she then pays for it to be vaxed :D

haha now thats a plan mate :-D but seriously how do we fix this leaky bastard ?

afraid you're sooooo talkin to the wrong person-:D

every time its forecast to rain I now put a plastic shopping bag and a towel on the seat and if it still gets through I stand for ten minutes the next day with an extension lead and a hairdryer :D

It works for me , but i'm guessing you want to fix it by doing things to it

haha i could not be arsed with that , i have heard of putting vasiline on the seal but dunno if thats true , its a pain in the arse !!! **** you landy **** u :-D

i put my own sunroof in and used the black silicon as its better for sealing its about £6.00 ya prob best to take it out and put **** loads around it then put it back in :) done mine and it dont leak at all .. good luck ..

am a joiner i dont use gloves lol , think i will go for the tape ! can anyone help with the sliding windows n noo not silicone thanks

I finally got ultra ****ed off getting a wet arse with the sunroof leaking, the back one didn't. but we did both anyway, we siliconed around the outer edge of the black trim, then black gaffer tape over the sunroof frame and the glass, slightly heated the gaffer tape with a hair dryer which got it super tacky, then I varnished the whole ****ing lot with yacht varnish, hasn't leaked for 6 months now.
And if I sell it in the future the new owner will not have to dig the sunroofs out of silicon if he wants to do the roofs, mad fecker.
Why do land rover put sunroofs in them at all, they have such a **** rep for leaking, you would have thought some manager would have said no,no more sunroofs we cant do them, we are **** at them, they always leak...............no stop, no more sunroofs ever..
My D2 ES Premium had 2 sunroofs,it had digital climate control, ffs, why do you need sunroofs with air con.........it ****ed rain in,all over the digital display on the dash, all over my cream leather, heated electric seats....
My defender has no sunroof, alpine windows, I have learn't,less windows the better, so I got 110 hardtop, and I will put windows in.

Spoke to several landy places and you supposedly can no longer get any part of the defender sunroof unless you buy a complete unit which is more than what a new roof with no sunroof would cost, Silkaflex is the answer :(

Another area worth taking a look at is the 2 vents above the back door. I found that the water sitting on top of the roof would run into these, then along the gutter behind the head lining then pour all over me and the wife when I put the breaks on.

Suggest you block up your side of the channel then ;)

Thinking of putting one of the sunroofs from my disco that i am breaking in the front. As i used to fit them i figure i will use the rubber glue we used to use on windscreens. Lil primer. Then apply done right shouldnt leak and get a nice sunroof.
