Hi all,

After a catastrophically poor start to my time with LandyZone where I was convinced I had a 'Project Iceberg' v8 diesel I proved myself to be the archetypal 'all the gear, no idea'.

With this in mind I now know when to ask for help.

I have a series 2 land rover with a range rover 3.5l v8 with twin SU carbs donor engine. After 18months of pi**ing in the wind I have got myself to the point of trying to start the little beast but I am having problems with the carbs. Basically there seems to be little/no vacuum on the drivers side carb. When I hold the piston open on this side the engine will start but as I let go it gradually slides down and cuts out. It has ran for about 30-40 secs without this but it has only happened once.

On top of this I have concerns over my fuel supply to the carbs. I think the aftermarket electric fuel pump is drawing fuel through the system at a rate that it may be starving the carbs but don't know how to confirm this.

Please be gentle this is my first project and I'm trying my best to finish it so it isn't my last.

The car is in Abergavenny if anyone has any ideas.

I'm working on it all night tonight and tomorrow as I live in Cardiff so don't get much chance to get up here so if any pics required please let me know. I'll be monitoring this thread all of today and tomorrow with the hope someone who knows what they're talking about can help so drop me a line anytime.

Thanks for your time.

Andy
