I'm converting the ACE pipes to flexible hoses, as per other posts but have run up against a problem. I started stripping the components off ACE block to take it in to get the machining done, but one of the "solenoids" or whatever they are on the top of the block will NOT come out. Even the machine shop had a go and it will just not budge. The outer part unscrews but the main "pole", screwed into the top of the block will just not budge. Is it just screwed in or is there some other type of fixing ?

One is right hand thread the other is left hand thread.

So you cannot get them mixed up.

Try tightening it then it should come off.

 now why didn't I (or the machine shop) think of that ? Thanks, came out quite easy in the end

What are those bits called ? Going to have to find a replacement for the left hand threaded one as its got a bit chewed up

Valve assemblies

And second hand block is best source.
