That sounds a lot easier! :)
I filled the groves full of RTV in the bearing cap then fitted and bolted it up to spec. I then put the nosel of the RTV over the hole and pumped it in! i could see it coming out at the bottom hole near the crank. Once dried i tried with a blade.

Hi all.

The rebuild is on!

All is nice and clean and ready to put back together.

I just have the cast casing to blast tomorrow evening and then all being well get it back together on Saturday.

Good evening all.

So over the past week i have rebuilt my gearbox.

Over all it went well but the main thing that slowed me down was making tools to press the bearings on.

I used the workshop manual as reference but mostly i used Mikes videos on you tube.

The master rebuild kit from Ashcrofts had everything i needed but i did also order a new oil pump and i also fitted the improved oil feed ring.

The engine and gearbox work is looking great. Looks like you've got the Ashcroft heavy duty rear bearings in there, with the big chunky rollers.

I chickened out and just bought one of their exchange units last month. I was looking at their overhaul kits, but I'd no idea what kind of chamber of horrors would confront me when taking apart my old noisy box - there's no guarantee that any of the parts would be within factory tolerance after 140,000 miles. So now I have a spare box. I might still get the kit and refurbish the old one, or I might send it back and claim the core charge back. Not sure yet.

I would check out Mikes videos on you tube. He has a few vids on the R380 so give you a good start to have a go at rebuilding your own

So this weekend i got the rear axle stripped and jet washed.

I now have it on the bench and started to strip it.

Im hoping that our good mad Mike at brit feast is going to start the rear axle build on the Malwi 110 soon so i can get all the tips n tricks!

plan is to have it striped for the weekend and then i can paint both axle casings at the same time.

Have you got the spreader to open the casing and get the diff out?

Hi guys hope you are all well.

Got the rear axle striped down this week and i have also got a few brackets to give a good going over with the wire wheel in the grinder.

I have also just received the rear crank oil seal. its for the 2.8 international engine. Notice the 2 extra holes in the bottom to prevent it from warping

I am going to make a template for these extra holes and drill them this weekend.

Hi all

Been doing a lot of painting this week. Bit boring but its a job that has to be done.

The next big job is rebuild the rear diff. All the bearings, seals and bits n bobs are on order. Because im just changing the bearings im hoping the shims will be all ok but we will see when i set it all up.

Aup lads how are you all?

So over the last week or so i have just been blasting and painting and then wire brushing so on and so on and doing them small jobs that you can't see.

I have orded a 12ton press and im being f@$ked about with that. Its taking ages to ship so i have probity bought it of a family in china.

Once the press goes this will unleash lots of work for me. Things like pressing in all the bushing and getting the diffs rebuilt.

I have fitted the auxiliary fuel tank and also rebuilt the gear selector mechanism.
