strange windscreen wiper behaviour

Been out and about in the snow today in temperatures of about -7 degrees. Lots of greasy road spray on the windscreen. Washers working fine, but wipers hardly clearing the screen - it's almost like they're not making contact with the glass. Things improved on rise in temp getting back into town. It's a 2004 Landmark Td5 and my xmas present to myself - bought from and just serviced by approved landy dealer. Anyone experienced similar?

Frozen wiper blades?

mines the same but mine are very stiff even when not frozen a bit of corrosion on the center pin i think

I replaced my front wiper blades last July with Halfords own brand blades (2004 Disco 2). In summer they were great, but on cold, frosty days, I find that they don't make good contact with the glass, in fact they smear the washer liquid into a thin layer so that it can freeze up nicely!
