The last few days my D2 td5 has been a nightmare to start and I wasn't sure if it was the starter motor solenoid that's knackered. But then the next day, same temperature it was difficult to start again and this time when it fired up it was very rough and lumpy with smoke which cleared seconds later.
Then today it started fine first time and when I was down the motorway it started to wobble at around 50mph and then the knocking noise appeared and I could feel it under my feet. But the knocking noise was intermittent and sort of every 20-30 seconds I would hear and feel it.
So I'm guessing the injector seals for the lumpy and rough start with smoke but I'm not sure on the wobble and knock noise

Injector seals are a good start. Mine went and it became harder to start,

Mine also failed to run because the CPS started to fail when it got hot, when it died on the motorway the first time I thought I had a flat tyre, leave it to cool down and it would restart and run for a further 5 minutes or so.

Cheers
