When comin home tonight was driving up me drive through the slush, snow and water, (none of it vey deep) doin bout 35 -40 mph hittin the puddles when all of a sudden it was as though somebody switched of me accelarator pedal, the speed just dropped right off!
OOH FOOK i thought id ingested some water but then engine just picked up again after a couple of seconds and took off again.
This happened twice, its a 200tdi and didnt think there were any lecktrickery bits that would be affected or am i wrong?
Any help or usefull comments appreciated:D

You may have sooked a dollop of water into the air filter, and wetted the paper element, which would possibly "strangle" the engine for a moment, and would then clear. It may have sucked the element flat or ripped it - check it.

You should make very sure the floppy rubber thing that should drain water out of the air filter is clear and can work. If a clump of wet water enters a cylinder your engine could easily be wrecked beyond repair. The effect of water passing through the paper air filter SHOULD be to turn it into a sort of wet mist, which the engine SHOULD be able to handle even if it misfires.

i had a similar problem with my TD, was doin that intermittently for a few days then wouldnt start, turned out to be a dodgy connection to the start stop solonoid on the fuel pump.

Good thinking!

Get a length of wire (with a croc clip at each end) long enough to reach from the tag on the solenoid to a permanently live 12 volts such as battery or alternator big brown one.

Jump the stopper if all else fails and see if that helps.

Well located the problem!!:)
It would seem when i was bein a puddle killing hero lastnight on way home sufficient force of water had dislodged but not completely disconnected my stop solenoid valve (thanks charlsey).
Went to tip to drop off some rubbish this mornin and landy was runnin absolute perfect as usual, until i left the tip onto one of dumfries's most busy and accident prone roads (the locharmoss road, buster will know this) and it died.
But with thanks to charlsey's suggestion of stop solenoid and its location the wire was reattatched and we are back up and runnin:D
Just goin out to replace connection as its a bit ****ty and corroded:D

Guns or guns?
