Hi all, I went to the Abingdon 4x4 festival last weekend and it was brilliant. Showed them boys in Defenders/Disco's how a proper Landy goes up and down slopes. Seriousley they couldnt and I could.
We back to the point. I changed back to my road wheels during the week and now find myself with a wierd noise from underneath my freelander when i am slowing down. I suspected the front brakes so took them apart and inspected. All ok there. Spun both front wheels when front of car on axel stands, no noise! Jacked rear end up so all wheels off ground still no noise. This noise appears when accelerating and decelerating at about 10-25mph then it goes. Whilst up in the air, i started the engine and gave it a little throttle. The noise did not show itself.
I have taken a couple of pictures of the VCU support bearings and the rear of the IRD to see if you guys can tell me if they look ok or not. Also whilst under there, i noticed some up and down play on the rear diff when turning one of the rear wheels with the other chocked. I have a video which i am going to try and post. Any ideas will be greatly accepted.
and the video should be [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiDvBlYaI5Q"]YouTube - Freelander Rear diff movement[/nomedia]
thanks
Paul
