Hi there new to this forum.
Freelander 1 i bought just kept turning over.
Remember i heard a loud buzzing noise from the rear and assumed it was a fuel pump problem.
Located pump disconnected and bought inside. Tested with 12 v working.
Also tested the little electrical pump with 12v and that worked.
Stumped to know what that is.
The electrical connection for the little pump had 1 v when ignition on.
Stuck to know what to do next.
Any help would be much appreciated!!

Sounds like the pump for the fuel burning heater. If the pump works, you need to test the voltage when the heater should be running in cold temperature.

The pumps do buzz, if you are worried get the pressure checked. If pressure OK leave it alone!
Thanks for your reply.
Problem was that my car wasn't starting.worked on other cars but not landrover.
Any idea how i can rule fp out the equiatio. Swapped over relays. Dont hear any noise when ignition on from back wheel arch. Any ideas would be helpful , cheers

There's nothing special about the Freelander, it's basically a BMW 3 series diesel engine, which is much the same as any other common rail diesel.
;)

I'd start by tracing voltage from feed, from relay and then to rear and see where it disappears.
Use a live data reader to check pump pressure. If pump not running then that needs resolving first.
