Anyone had this on an old Defender (95, 300tdi, R380)?
The clutch pedal sometimes sticks down. Also the clutch doesn't clear unless the pedal is right on the floor.
It doesn't slip.
Hydraulics seem fine.
I suspect the release arm is bent or worn?
Having wrestled with a clutch on our old TD5Discovery, I'm not too keen to whip the box out unless it is essential.
Cheers,
Jim

What state/colour is your clutch fluid as this can usually give an indication of the state of your master / slave cylinders. When my clutch fork when it just went it didn't happen over a period of time and I got through two last year. Also how many miles has your clutch done and where abouts on the pedal travel is the biting point?

I would have thought the return spring should stop the pedal staying down. Worth a look up into the pedal box from the cab. Might be a master cylinder problem. Any idea of how many miles on the current clutch?

Clean fluid and new slave. mileage unknown, other than odo shows 85000. Box has been out at some time judging by creases on the floor/missing fasteners etc.
Bites about 2" off the floor, with a similar amount of free play slop.
Its going to be an arm, isn't it? Do the pivots wear too?

It's not underneath, lift the bonnet and remove the small metal cover in front of the clutch master cylinder, 6 screws.
Get someone to work the pedal while you watch the rod moving to see how it works. Adjusting it is a pain though, 13mm or 1/2" ring spanner (s) with a bit cut out is the best way to get at the two nuts.
