OK, so where does everyone keep their usual stuff a car seems to collect, CD's / Satnav / gloves / glasses etc.....

We don't want to leave them in the car "on show" as they are sure to get nicked..

I was looking at cubby boxes, but my wife is not keen. She likes the 3 front seats.

Is there a box that will fit in the back, maybe against the bulkhead (so it is reachable from the drivers seat) that we can buy. Doesn't have to be big, just big enough to fit the usual stuff in. We also have 4 seats in the back so space is limited.
I had considered using the space in the battery bay under the passenger seat, but not sure if this is a good idea as the stored items may get corroded by the battery "fumes", the metal seems to have taken a pasting already in there... A job for a wire brush and some hammerite on the cards i think.

Just wondering if you guys have come up with a solution to hiding stuff from prying eyes?

Roy

Hi, raptor do a small lockable, steel glove box which fits in pre puma dash,s.
There are quite a few non and lockable cubbyboxes on the market, but if your missus don't like then your buggered lol.
I have a box about 18x20 which fits between seat boxes in the rear and I've seen custom made sliding drawers which fit the whole floorspace in the rear tub.
I've boarded out my van sides and fitted nets which hold stuff but a cubby is invaluable, talk the missus round, if you don't use the seat,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hopefully this will link to an eBay 2 piece front parcel shelf.
I believer also MudUK do a similar version (slightly more expensive)
It's not something I own yet as I have a sunroof which I know for definite the MudUK one will not fit.
I digress, this is something I have only looked at so can't recommend or give any sound advice. But it looks good. And solves the wife problem (maybe)

You can get quite a lot of small stuff in the space behind the front seats. As for CDs, what about a CD changer? Mine's bolted to the bulkhead behind the middle seat. They're cheap on ebay nowadays. Either that or put your music on your phone or an MP3, if there's a jack socket on your stereo.

Can you get those tool trays that goes under the middle seat? I've seen that YRM do them for a Series 2, wondering if the depth/aperture is the same on a Defender as that'd be pretty handy. Anyone know?

Wha ha ha ha ahahaha how much!? get the rubber coated one it's an extra £17 taking it to a measly £99 for something you can stick a phone and a sausage in:eek:

They are spendy... I'm not a fan, but they are pretty cool use of space otherwise empty.

Another option... Have you guys seen the "saddle bags" for the gear tunnel? It provides a couple pockets on each side. You could easily make something.

I actually quite like these. Yeh they are expensive but a very cool use of space. I've got one that holds my first aid kit.
