Storage Boxes / Barebox

Hello:

I am looking for 2 storage boxes to go in my 110 above the wheel arches. I was looking at These ones made by Barebox, but they are galvanized and only 20 gauge or 1mm thick.

Any of you know any good metalworkers that could make a thinker one for me?

1mm is pretty strong in that shape. What are you planning to store in them that they need to be thicker?

Good set of tools, just worried someone can just pry it open with a crowbar in a few seconds.

making 2mm instead of 1mm would make much difference to a crowbar. If someone wants to nick it they will.

Besides, they will probably just nick the whole vehicle first!

Whats wrong with them being Galvanised by the way?

Nothing wrong with galvanized, just that it would be cheaper to make, and since it is going inside the car, a strong enamel finish would be just as good.

Seems 1mm would be ok then.

its only a few quid for them to dip it in the galv bath in a big batch and itll last substantially longer being protected from corrosion etc. Worth paying the extra couple of quid for.

I would say go for it.

I just purchased an MSS locker which was considerably more expensive and the finish is excellent. Depends what you want to spend though.
