I had to do heavy braking yesterday at 40mph for the first time in my latest 110 and I was not impressed.... stopped okay but not a hint of locking up the wheels on a dry surface (265/75 R16s fitted) The pedal feels fine and under normal braking you wouldn't notice anything.
She has no added weight at the moment (apart my my fat ass) and if I had been loaded up I think I could have had a problem. Just seemed to be a bit of fade drawing to a stop.

She is going in this week to get an oil leak sorted (out of my league) steam cleaned and waxoyled. I will ask him to check the brakes but the pads and discs look okay and it stops in a straight line. He may turn up a problem but if not I want to improve my brakes.

Could my bigger tyres be an issue? EBC brake pads seem to be a popular upgrade... but come in several types. Are they worth the money and would they do the job on standard discs or would I have to get vented discs?

I would appreciate your views and any 110 users who have experienced the same..... I really dont want to take chances with brakes. Cheers :)

dunno much about brake performance wrt 110's but you could try a change of Dot4 and bleeding all corners. chances are it hasn't been done in a bit unless you did it yourself.

Make sure the rears are up to scratch, it makes a difference.:)

I have cheap drilled and grooved disks on the front of my 90 with EBC greenstuff pads and on the back it has a set of genuine pads and normal disks.

It stops quite sharp compared to using just mintex pads front and back.

I also have a set of genuine pads for the front that will be going on after the EBC

Keep an eye out on ebay for genuine pads, in the last 3 months I have got my geuine new rears for £3 and a set of the larger 110 genuine pads for £10 :D
