Woke up Monday (9th Jan 2012) morning to find both our Land Rovers missing.

Someone took them in the night, between 11.30pm (8th) and 7.30am (9th). They broke the lock off the gate stole both trucks and then kindly closed the gate behind them.

Both truck had been taken from our drive near Clowne, Derbyshire and then onto Newington near Bawtry where they removed all personal items from both trucks (which included removing 110's roof rack) and burnt them all together. Police later that day informed us that their ANPR camera spotted one of them in Humberside but didn't say which one it was.

Would you please keep a look out for _
Dark red 110 reg DV51 SEY
This has an air vent on the roof which is round, black and rotates, the back step is missing, the wheel cover says GORDON LAMB, CHESTERFIELD. It has checker plate on the wings and sills, full length side steps on both sides, rear bench seats and a stainless steel bull bar with Hella spots on. Rear N/S mud flap is missing.
and
Blue with a white roof 90 commercial reg YS57 XYM
This has a set of folding seats put in the back by my husband which are royal blue with coloured shapes in the material and the backs are made of blue vinyl with yellow piping. It doesn't have any side steps but has an ajustable towbar with built in step. The wheel cover says GUY SALMON COVENTRY and it has orange flashing strobe recovery lights on the front grill.

We are gutted and totally devestated, its just like someone has taken two members of our family. My husband does trialing and on the sunday he had been to Whittington to watch Peak & Dukeries with our son and a friend. Ploice think that the thieves followed him back to see where we kept the 90 and came back in the eveniing/early hours and took them both.

Interesting that they took the roof rack off, it would suggest they intended to put it inside a container or tilt lorry. Likewise burning any personal stuff, are they stealing these to order for export?

Basilseal i think they took the roof rack off because it was a distinguishable feature as my husband made it himself to put our inflatable boat on the roof. There will only ever be one of them as ihalf of it fit to the boat and made a hand drag tailer which when stood on its end slid into the part that stayed on the roof. So thats why they took it off or maybe you could be right after all it was spotted in Humberside so maybe it is on a ship in a container as we speak :O(

I have uploaded some photos of both truck now in the gallery, can everyone view them? or is that just for my reference?

Here are some photos of the stolen 110 and 90. The bull bar was fitted after we bought it and i only have one photo with it on at our wedding. It had the bull bar on when stolen.

Please let me know if you spot any of our truck, we would be so grateful for any help. Thanks again x

The Humberside link is interesting - it has cropped up before
Do post on Landywatch as well - we're trying to co-ordinate intelligence about methods etc.
Also, we've noticed that scallywags actually do read these forums, so everyone should beware of giving too much away.
The villains do their homework, research for targets and security measures and clearly, your very nice vehicles were destined for containerised export.

I've heard of a roofrack being ditched before (near humberside); sometimes it can be because the antenna for a tracker might be there. A tracker in the vehicle would be highly undesirable for an exporter, as it would give away more than the vehicle.

sorry to hear of your loss

That's what i was thinking to be honest.

I don't think these are random opportunist thefts but organised gangs stealing vehicles to order, probably to export. You have my sympathies, I lost two landrovers in the same night in similar circumstances to you, I'm not that far away from you either, though mine went a couple of years ago now.

I never saw mine again, but i sincerely hope you have a bit more luck than i did.

Oh no, not two of yours too :(

I agree these are much too organised to be amateurs. It had to be well planned as it was so neatly done with nothing left behind. Fortunately we slept through it but they must have been quiet as no one heard them at all! I dread to think what would have happened if my husband had woke up and caught them in the 'act' and gone outside.
