Well, not posted for a while so update on my 2006 FL1 TD4 Facelift due.
All going well with engine very little smoking now since adding rubber seal sweller to my oil only very small puff on initial set off.
I have driven a few hundred miles since my major work carried out and I just returned from one of those memorable hol's for all the wrong reasons! Laid up with a bad back all week and My tailgate window stuck up with a grinding cable noise when I tried to lower it so ordered a new regulator/cable unit and as the rear door was split behind the spare wheel I picked up a really good used non corroded one on the way home £50 well happy no rust except the very bottom inside edge which I decided to rub down, rust kill and repaint this week and it now looks like brand new I just have to swap the door over now.
My wife drove on one day and while negotiating a steep up hill screamed the engine and said it's not moving scaring the hell out of me believing the clutch to have gone but after taking control back in the driver seat it drove fine and towed my small caravan home no issues so somehow she must have been in between gears
I looked on here tonight to find any posts relating to the Glow plug light not showing on initial key turn and found the answers I was looking for after reading the RAVE write up on it's operation I suspected the coolant temp sensor as my gauge only goes up to or just under half so it could be thermostat or temp sender so this weekend coming I intend replacing the sensor.I was pleased to read other TD4 owners experiences are the same and go along with the wait till winter view but for peace of mind I'l do a test at plug feed wire.
I got a fully recon'd vcu that I am to fit now were in Autumn ready for the winter time so will be full 4 x 4 again.
I just had a full mot and the only little job to come out of that was the end of the sill near the rear wheel arch needs a patch but other than that a clean pass.
Well thats it up to date still Love my TD4 even treat it to a Life-shine application for been a good girl!

Good to hear its running well. Freelander's rule ;)

What seals do you think could be leaking?
