Hi all - again I find my 200tdi overheating. I have flushed the radiator and now put in a genuine thermostat but still gets too hot. This time I coasted it home to prevent damaging the thermostat or anything else. I have bled the system to my knowledege. The bottom pipes get warm but the upper ones going to the rad are cold, as is the water in the radiator. It feels like there is no pressure in the pipes whatsoever. This leaves me to suspect it is the water pump but it is only a year old (Bearmach). OR perhaps I am bleeding it wrong?

Your thoughts?

Thanks.

If you park facing on a slight up hill and fill through the rad plug with the pressure tank cap removed then little chance of an air lock.

You need to measure the temperature accurately otherwise you will just be chasing your tail.

ok guys, will try the uphill method before I get a new pump. There's no need to check the temp as i have said the upper piped are stone cold and everything below the thermostat is red hot. I drove it all the way to yorkshire and back the other week though without a thermostat and there was no overheating whatsoever. I have had 3 thermostats now, the current a genuine so know it isn't that. really odd.
