Following my posts of last week re intermitent fault with our Freelander's 3 amigo's it'a 2001 1.8, story so far have checked all brakes no problems, (although n/s handbrake occasionally sticks on even after 1 night in the garage, now left off) all sensors checked and reseated, all reluctor rings appear to be intact, new brake light switch fitted brakes bled in correct order, 12volts at hdc switch. Abs works perfect when the lights goes out as do the traction control and hdc. Sometimes the light will go out after a few yards( stopping and restarting engine) other times it may be 2-3 miles, has come on once when moving and that was when I came off the gas to leave the motorway it came on and took a mile or so before I could get it out. Usually once they have gone off they are OK as long as the car is warm only returning after 3-4 hrs, Have had all fuses and relays out sprayed with contact cleaner and replaced, just once I started it up and switched off straight away and the lights had gone off, that was after I had all the wheels off and checked the brakes. So I am open to any suggestions of things I can try or might have missed.

Well again last night, I went 1 jcn down the M1 from work, pulled off and lights went out, almost home and came off the gas and the lights came back on, at the next roundabout I switched off and restarted and the lights went out again. There are never any faults stored so I don't know what to check next. HELP please !!!!!!!!!!

:) throttle doesn't close enough to give a zero reading to the ecu......lift off and apply brake.....ecu sees throttle input and braking at the same time = implausible signal = 3 amigos.

I thought it was Fly-By-Wire - no cable

Cable on a 1.8k, I'm no expert, the description may not be 100% accurate and it may not be the cause of the fault. Just some info that I remember reading. ;)

I had exactly the same issue which eventually resulted in the 3 lights being on all the time. After checking all the mentioned I checked the resistance of the sensors (thanks to the member that posted the values) they should read around 900-1000 ohms, I found them ok. I went for abdrive and then checked again when back and yep it turns out one has an intermittent issue where it reads nothing at all. When it works it reads correctly so I am guessing the wire is damaged in some way.

Well worth checking the sensors in this way.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I have backed off the throttle adjustment, no change, have tried reading from sensors when lights are off and when they are on, readings still the same. Today I found the accelerometer near the handbrake checked the wires and sprayed with contact cleaner again no change. Have checked ABS and HDC going forward and backward and when lights are off they work fine, so short of putting 4 new sensors on I don't know what to check next, or to put another way I'm well and truly bloody stumped!!!!!!!. Cheers All, Jim
