Hi All,

Just some advice please. The front drivers window has become sticky when you use the electric to put the window up it trips the anti trap, I can then pull it up but now it is going up at an angle.

I am presuming that I have to take the door apart and greese the running parts. But what greese do I use?

Any one got any tips on sorting this problem before I start taking things apart I dont have to....

Cheers

Wilso

the frame holding the whole motor assy/lift scissor assy is only held in place with rivets ... cheap and nasty. The drivers side gets more use than the others and the rivets wear loose and break. Once the assy is missaligned all kinds of problems occur.

Simple job to remove door cover, access the rivets, knock them out and replace with bolts .....
Maybe this will help ........ :)

Hi,

You were right, infact worse than just the rivets, the tirangular piece of metal has split in two, looks like really poor manufacture with cheap material. going to have to replace the regulator, the week before my holiday aswell, arghhh ;-)

Thanks for the heads up.

Ebay number # 320123376540

Still got 3 days to go on it .......

Guess its not possible to weld it up then .?
Did notice that the motor is so powerful that when the rivets break and loses alignment, it can twist the whole plate .......
best of luck .....

Was in a hurry! that and they don't say what door it is for ;-)

Got my mate to check it for a weld, reconed with the power of the motor it would probably go again quite quickly so not worth it. might get it done so I have a get out of it quick for when it happens again.. pretty poor design, a really powerful motor on a flimsy badly mounted pressed metal mount, clever...

Ho humm the joys of a P38, and I thought my series 1 was quirky!

Cheers Wilso.
