So when I got my freelander the entire rear window was broken and the cable had snapped, in the traditional Freelander way.

Rather than getting a new cable kit and trying to rework it all myself, there was a nearly new complete mechanism one on ebay.

Fitted it today and all works fine, it goes down and up as should. How ever the initial downwards movement sticks. It as if the window is held too tight at the top and requires a bit more force to get it to go down. WHen opening the tailgate it also sticks, soon as it opens the window drops a bit and all is okay. It also raises back up again when closed.

Is this to do with some kind of alignment setup? It seems there's a bolt with some adjustment at the bottom of each runner. I can position the glass left / right too. I've got it as central as possible and the gap when closed it all even and looks correct.

Any help would be great. It doesn't really affect operation, just isn't as smooth as it should be.

Was the window jammed all the way up? if so is it now going into the track properly? Mine was like that and now it doesn't want to go to the correct position so I have a job ahead of me sorting that. If it isn't sticking then it might just need recalibrated by disconnecting the battery. When the battery is reconnected the window will go all the way down. Turn the ignition on and hold the button in until it is fully up.

Another issue is to work the window up and down with the screws holding the regulator a bit loose to check that the rails are true and parallel, and also to not tighten the glass until its bang on central.
