so today I did quite well at the scrapers keen and eager to start sorting odd bits with the old beast.
Fuel filler actuator was burnt out not an issue with the lack of boot trims.
I fit one there at the scrappy ad it worked yes that's all it was.

Then it broke thinking it was just a dodgy actuator

So I fit another 2nd hand actuator working great feeling chuffed.

Then after being sat a while I gave it a try just because I could..... broken.

So I fit the other one I got today bang it works. Swap the fuel door swith and beauty it still works that's it old button was being a **** mabye.

And after being parked up again gone to get fuel for tomorrow morning and bam it's broken again.

Somthing clicks when the buttons pressed

So where should I look into now to find why it's eating fuel door actuators any ideas people?

Nothing else seems broken electronically except a hevac bulb and the fog light switch illumination.

Thanks

When they broke I never changed or checked a fuse just new actuator and switch(because I had one)

Just plugged in and worked. then broke

it worked, so it had power. Then it broke. Repeatedly. So someone has put too high a resistance fuse in or it is grabbing power from elsewhere. Why hasn't the fuse broken?

The "broken" actuators, can you get them to move with a battery?

No they're dead burnt out flat nothing with two wires and the battery

Yes, check the plug and the socket, mine were full of sticky crap, could have been the adhesive used to stick the sound proofing. Check the positive and negative connections on the actuator before you connect it to the battery

I cut loom plug off the other motors so was easy and orange to live and black to earth.
Il get her ripped apart and chance that wire and check the right fuses are in.

Just a thought if the earth on that curcuit is duff could it be earthing out internally and causing the actuators to pop

Pressing unlock button on binnacle pulls relay 6 and powers actuator. Actuator is grounded to a point just below seat release catch on O/S/R inner wing.

Sounds to me like it's getting power all the time and just overheating and melting. They're only designed to be actuated briefly.
Possibly the contacts in the relay sticking together?

All fuses underbonnet and becm are good.
Relay clicks and unclicks when button pressed. Even if you hold the button down there's power for a second and it's gone.
Only power down the wires when buttons pressed.
In the meantime Iv got a bulb to connect to the wires to see If it gets power anytime it shouldn't.
It's still eaten another working actuator off a pals one though.

I think that there should not be a constant power feed to the actuator, only momentarily to pull the release rod. You might have fried them.
