Just put a new stereo in, only a cheap Philips job, problem is when I play my iPod through the dedicated iPod USB only front left and rear right speakers work, yet if I have the radio on all four speakers work. Any ideas. I'm just going to try with a new lead maybe it's that.

Sounds like something dodgy with the stereo. If the ipod is connected only by USB, then the music is being read off the iPod as data, and converted to sound by the codecs in the stereo itself. If thats the case then i cant imagine changing the lead will make any difference.

Some stereos however do use a special cable (I.e. Not just the simple usb white cable) which takes sound from the iPod on analogue lines and just uses usb for control pursposes. Some even use use two cables or a Y cable. If that's the case then maybe changing the cable will work.

Changed the iPod lead and now it's hunky dory. Thanks for input.

I have had the lead plugged into the old stereo for a few years and have got mud and all sorts over it, will give it a spray clean and see if it's ok.

there you go eh,
I live and learn summit new each day..

I did have some speakers that never worked once, so I chucked `em out.

I looked at `em on the floor and though, nail `em to a wall in the shed,
and used `em for small parts holders...

later found out it was the leads that were chafed,
not the speakers naffed,
new speakers were not that dear really,
taking in to account the free small parts holders!

Just get A c b drew fm on all channels p

In that case I stand corrected. I can't imagine what was wrong with the old cable that would cause it to only play through two speakers. Good that its fixed though.

You were correct, must have been coincidence it started working properly with different lead as its gone tits up again.
