Hi just wondering if anyone has fitted or tried to fit a 2din head unit in a freelander1 an early 96-2000 model?

Im about to try fitting a double din console from the facelift. It seems possible, but you need to fabricate a bracket for the 2004+ heaterpanel and the double din unit. The red cable from the heater unit to the panel is also longer on the facelift version. But its possbile to reuse the pre facelift one rather than buying this.

When adding the facelift console to the pre facelift FL. Youre gonna need to relocate some switches as well. So i need the 2004+ front door cards so i can get the 2004+ armrest switches for doors, lock and tailgatewindow. Then the sunroof switch from center console front to center console rear. Only switch missing then is the hazard button. Im gonna remove the 12v lighter socket and fit a round hazard button there.

Will you be taking pictures? I'd be interested to see how and what you did? Although I'm now looking at a single din flip out/single din with double din size facia panel they all seem cheap enough on fleabay

Prob lose the heated rear window and hazard easy access but small sacrifice compared to swapping the interior out and cheaper lol

Yes its not really worth changing the interior unless you have a L-series diesel in my opinion.

Nothing wrong with it. But its gets better in the later years in my opinion.

Very true althowasnt much diff to my 2002 td4apart from that had black interior which was a hell of a lot nicer colour lol

I have the Lseries diesel lol...

The interior colour is awful the cream and aqua green urhh at least it's a van so not a full on interior
