steering wheels

A simple question to most of you I'm sure, are all land rover, in fact all British Leyland steering wheels interchangeable?

No - Different number of splines are available and indicator cancel rings will also differ

Thanks, I was fairly sure they all were, but as usual, it always pays to ask the experts on here! ;-)

I had a MG Metro wheel on my lightweight. Nice and small so I could get my fat bulk in but with 7.50 SATs it was hard work, even when moving!

I was actually thinking of going bigger and thinner, more old school maybe from a series or a p4? I had a vw t25 and I liked the size of wheel on that. I suppose I would need to watch my knuckles on the door though!

Series 2 steering wheel is 48 spline but getting self cancelling indicators working won't be an easy feat.

I'm not a fan of the series 2 steering wheel not much difference in size to a defender wheel but is thinner.

Series 3 wheels are also 48 spline I believe but are a similar plastic to early defender steering wheels the 4 spoke ones.

Best bet is to find out how many splines are in your steering wheel/column either 48 or 36 and then search for that number of splines on eBay and see if you find anything you like.
